Coping with Different PeopleSo that we don’t make them difficultDifficult people are not difficult, they are just different; we make them difficult. – Coach Joe Gilliam Have you ever worked with that difficult person, who just drove you and everyone around you crazy? What characteristics did they possess? Were they the type who could be set off at any time like a time bomb? Maybe they just sat there like bumps on a log and never participated. Did they whine about how much work they have? Have you ever noticed that the person who complains about how busy they are is never as busy as those who do not complain? What is a difficult person to you? Is it the person who yells, screams and curses at you? Is it someone who is needy? What about the show off? The fact is that each of these and others are considered by many to be difficult people. In fact you may have been considered difficult to someone at one time in the past. I know I have been on more than one occasion. So let’s break down the most common types of difficult behaviors. Note I said behaviors and not people. The people are not difficult, it is the behavior they demonstrate that is difficult for us to cope with and work through. Ideally we would like to offer “career redirection” advice (often referred to as firing them) or at the least we want to change their behavior. The fact is that we cannot change another person. Regardless how much we try we cannot change others. People will change behavior based on two factors alone; a need or an emotion. Have you ever had someone who is nice enough to you and then all of a sudden became friendlier towards you? Think back and determine did they have a need at that time? I am often referred to as a “Motivational Speaker” and while my programs are inspirational and motivational, the fact remains that I cannot motivate anyone who does not want to be motivated themselves. Now the next fact is that everyone wants to be motivated and many are motivated by different facets. The ultimate secret is knowing what motivates different people. The only way to know this is to get to know the person. Coping with what we call different people involves a lot of learning on our parts. Contact Gregg today and see how his keynote speeches and breakout training sessions can help your company or organization.

Motivational speakers are hired to speak to audiences to generate motivation towards an objective. The objectives are very different for every listeners. Motivational speakers are generally vibrant, dramatic not to mention full of energy to get their listeners thrilled and aiming to reach things. They often possess a commanding appearance on the platform with strong, confident voices. Yet they are also capable of taking the volume right down which inturn heightens the tension as well as makes the crowd listen closely.

Abraham Lincoln was well recognized in his day for his sense of humor, and usually told funny stories to engage and earn the trust of his audience.Throughout the Civil War, he at times visited Washington area hospitals to lift the wounded soldiers’ spirits. Right after 1 such visit, a journalist entered a hospital to find infantrymen boisterously laughing and talking about the president. He discovered it curious to see injured men to be seemingly so healthy. “You should be extremely slightly wounded,” he said to the soldier.”Yes,” the soldier replied, “Extremely slightly. I have only lost 1 leg, and I’d be glad to lose the other, if I could hear some much more of ‘Old Abe’s’ stories.” What Honest Abe knew, and what much more individuals should learn, is that humor is an incredibly powerful tool that can make anybody happy and attentive even in the most attempting of circumstances.
When somebody engages you with humor, you genuinely want to listen, and soak up more of what they are saying. If humor can interact and encourage somebody subjected to Civil War era medicine, it can interact and inspire anyone. And that’s why hiring a motivational humorous speaker makes great sense! These days, Top Change Management Speakers use the massive power of comedy to make individuals laugh and improve private prospective.

As I survey the speaker’s market I’ve become a tad weary willfully wearing the title “Motivational Speaker“. All speakers worth their salt seek to motivate or cause action. Maybe it’s just me, but does the mere mention of the term “Motivational Speaker” conjure irritating mental pictures in your subconscious mind? There are far too many stereotypes being propagated regarding speakers. I will address a few of these speaker stereotypes and hopefully simultaneously construct a not-to-do list that aspiring speakers may use on their roads to success in the lucrative speaking industry.

Our moms have 20+ jobs at once: A parent, cook, housekeeper, teacher, nurse, handyperson, maid, security, coordinator, supervisor, manager, secretary, nutritionist, caretaker, personal assistant, life coach, bookkeeper, laundrymaid, and a motivational speaker. They don’t get paid, holidays, sick pay, or days off. They …are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I challenge any brother to come even close to this!

People like to purse their career in the fields of their interest and in what they are good at. Most commonly it is in the fields of accountancy, management or science. But, now-a-days there is a break from these regular choice of professions with people deciding to pursue their career using their skills in designing, cooking, writing and even speaking. Some individuals possess the art of speaking in such a manner that grasps everybody’s attention and put across their point so well, that people can’t help but get influenced by their speech. For these people there is ample scope in making their career as speakers, especially motivational speakers. Motivational Speakers are often hired by organizations to motivate their employees through their excellent way of speaking. These motivational speakers engage the audience in their speeches and motivate them by simply putting forward motivational thoughts but in their unique, talented way. Motivational speaker consultants, who are professionals, have achieved success in their field by making many encouraging speeches for employees in organizations, with the effect of these speeches shown in employees’ performance. A further extension to this profession of motivational speakers is keynote speakers. A keynote speaker talks of a particular issue to the audience and makes them understand the benefits that can be derived of it.
A keynote speaker has a great scope in his career. Keynote speakers are necessary as organizations have many new innovations and would like to put it across to different groups of people and people are not generally very interested in listening to boring, elongated speeches. So, with the help of these keynote speakers, organizations are able to explain to the public about their achievements. Similarly, if a company wants to talk to its employees about the necessity of a change in their work pattern, which is designed for their benefit, the job of communicating it to the employees with the advantages is done by a keynote speaker.

I have been a loser all of my life. Sure I graduated from high school and college. I have had jobs. I never never been promoted. I have watched other people become successful and content with their lives. I have never known that.
I suppose if you are successful and some motivational speaker with a tale of success you will consider this a rant. I am directing this question for the other people like me out there. Do you know what it is like to flunk classes? To lose in sports and fail at things? How did you deal with parents that demanded success from you and you didn’t live up to their expectations? Do you compare yourself to others and find that you have become angry?

Funny. Would that be the first word to come to mind if you were told that you were going to be hearing a speech by a motivational speaker? It’s not likely. After all, we’ve all come across motivational speakers in one form or another (even if it was just on television) and funny isn’t really what they’re known for. Instead, the image drummed up by the phrase “motivational speaker” is one of a man in a business suit who is clearly trying to sell you something that you don’t need, preying upon your sense of inadequacy in some area to schmooze you into buying his product or service.
But this is not always the case. Not every motivational speaker is the upscale equivalent of the door-to-door salesman. In fact, there are motivational humorous speakers out there who make use of a good sense of humor and the charm that they have with crowds to get you laughing and enjoying yourself. Attending an event by one of these speakers is almost like going to see a stand-up comedian. Sure, it might cost a little bit more, but you’re actually a lot more likely to take something away from the experience.
