Our moms have 20+ jobs at once: A parent, cook, housekeeper, teacher, nurse, handyperson, maid, security, coordinator, supervisor, manager, secretary, nutritionist, caretaker, personal assistant, life coach, bookkeeper, laundrymaid, and a motivational speaker. They don’t get paid, holidays, sick pay, or days off. They …are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I challenge any brother to come even close to this!
Yes i know Azfar

Many managers see themselves as a corporate Batman, the misunderstood and disguised hero that comes to the rescue and with relentless bravery, sharpness, and expertise, takes care of the menace and disappears in the middle of the night, making everyone wonder who that mysterious savior was.

So many ‘modern’ managers suffer from this harmful kind of individualism!  They solve problems, assume authority, organize and oversee, from time to time give certain team members some power, and end up focusing on putting out day-to-day fires.  More often than not, they handle more than they can and they end up exhausted.

Delivering A Quality Presentation

Presentation attendance is important for keeping sharp and up to date on topics and techniques. With that in mind, I often attend seminars and presentations on a variety of topics, from business development and consultancy to investing and asset management. Most recently, I attended a seminar from David Lerner and Associates on “Building and Protecting your Assets.” While this is clearly a sales seminar, looking to create a buying impulse, it also provided great information and food for thought. Mostly, however, I want to discuss the techniques used in the seminar, as I found it to be very well done.

I will begin by saying that David Lerner is a very polished and entertaining speaker. His use of technology was well integrated with his manner of walking the room. Three video screens were used, One large central screen and two smaller screens to allow the viewers at the peripheries to see the information clearly as well. On top of this, a wireless sound system was used to project the speaker’s voice effectively. The facility was a moderate sized convention center/ballroom, with a crowd that I would estimate at 600 people. Utilizing an array of speakers connected to a wireless receiver, and a handheld wireless microphone, every word was able to be heard clearly. Volume and clarity are both key factors for successful speakers. However, it was not so much the technical details which made this a good presentation, it was the presentation style. Mr. Lerner made several overtures to connect with the audience effectively. First, he was adept at using humor, which is often touted as a public speaking tool. I personally liked his references to Mel Brooks’ movies, as I am a huge fan of his work. Bringing the audience back to those references at points throughout the presentation also created memory points for the audience. This is a fantastic technique for getting an audience to remember key points, without seeming like a pushy teacher. Mr. Lerner also connected with the audience by sharing details and experiences from his personal life. Humanizing yourself as a speaker should not be discounted; an audience is far more likely to “buy in” to a speaker’s pitch if they see him as one of their own rather than an outsider. Sharing stories that the audience can relate to is crucial, but a speaker must know the audience well enough to make this work. Both the humor and personal connection set the audience at ease and allow for a greater capacity to listen and accept what is being shared without a highly guarded affect.

There’s a common misconception that sales managers must be good talkers. Its true that any leadership position requires superb communication skills in which you can clearly articulate your thoughts through the words you use and the way you communicate.

But if you are always talking and never listening, then youre going to have a real hard time leading your sales team…because you’ll never know what really matters to them.

What to Use Business Speakers For

Because business speakers offer innovation, a new point of view and motivation, the companies that employ them are typically prestigious and successful. Business presenters are leaders in their field, able to impart knowledge on manufacturing, technology, science or man management. They are also trained in public speaking, meaning that they know who to capture an audience’s attention and keep it as well as having a lot of experience of communicating ideas effectively. Not everyone has such wonderful communication skills.

Many people, particularly managers tasked with organising corporate events are unsure as to whether their event warrants the use of business speakers, so here are a few examples of the sort of event which could benefit from business presentations. One example is training days or workshops. This is because the business presenters in question might well be advocates of a new technology or technique which is being introduced to the company and by telling the audience about success stories associated with it, enthusiasm is likely to be boosted.Furthermore, the business presenters might well be experts in that particular field and may be able to offer information and insight that the company manager could not.

I’m just so frustrated right now as I try to write these scholarship essays, I was even as I wrote my college essays. I have realized I have no life experience.

There has been no “thing” that happened to me, no event, no magical trip to a city I knew I would want to live in forever, no motivational speaker I heard when I was 10 at a school assembly, no loved one dying making me realize how precious life was. I have nothing! It’s sad…I’ve had about 2 teachers that I can think of as the best I’ve ever had, but they in no way changed my thinking, enlightened me, anything.

I can remember being 4 and having many of the views I do now, I have matured a TON I know, but I’ve never had a revelation, some feeling of an amazing impacting experience. I have nothing! uggh!!

Southern Baptist seminary guest speaker examines sin: admirable talk in an ongoing series of subjects
by Peter Menkin

Guest speaker examines sin at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, Mill Valley, California for 40 minutes speaking before students, their friends, and the public with the theme, “We can win in our war against sin in our life.” Pastor Jim Fitzpatrick tells how belief influences behavior, citing Romans 6 the Bible during his admirable talk. Readers can hear the sermon in its entirety here.

Part of an ongoing series of sermons by speakers as well as faculty spokeswoman for the Southern Baptist seminary says, “…we often have music (songs and instruments) prior to the sermon – with the attendees singing – very much like a church worship service.” Upcoming guests can be found on the Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (GGBTS) website here. “Attendees include students, staff and faculty. The public is welcome, and depending on the speaker, others may attend. For instance, Robert Wilkins will be the speaker selected by our African American Christian Fellowship. He is Young Adult Pastor, Allen Temple Baptist Church and President and CEO, YMCA of the East Bay, located in Oakland.”
